mothermothermother attempts to get to the bottom of unresolved issues between an adult son (Michael Rubenfeld) and his mother (Mary Berchard). It is set in the theatre’s present but the theatrical unfolding is triggered by the undisclosed recording
of a conversation between mother and son, while they are in a doctor’s office for news that could impact on mother’s mortality. Over the course of 4 pancakes, mother and son revisit the trigger in the hopes of discovering some resolution. This is not a fictional work but there is much fiction within it.

Premiered at the Rhubarb! Festival in February 2013.
